Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X with Snapdragon 653 reportedly in the works

A couple of Xiaomi devices have leaked over the past few days ―  Mi Pad 3 and Mi S ―, both turned out to be fake, while we still wait for confirmation of Mi 5C leak, details of a new Xiaomi device have hit the interweb.

According to a report coming out of China, Xiaomi is working on a new variant of Redmi Note 4 alledgedly called Redmi Note 4X, and will arrive with upgraded hardware.

One of the main difference between Redmi Note 4 and Note 4X is the processor. The Redmi Note 4 was powered by MediaTek Helio X20 chip, whereas the Redmi Note 4X will reportedly feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 653 processor. It will pack 4GB RAM and will be available in 32GB and 64GB storage options.

There's no word regarding Redmi Note 4X's other specs, however, we can expect the rest of the hardware to be more or less identical to the Redmi Note 4, which comes with 5.5-inch Full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, hybrid dual-SIM slots, 4G VoLTE, fingerprint scanner and 4100mAh battery. A leaked screenshot reveals that Redmi Note 4X runs MIUI 8.1, which is most likely to be based on Android Marshmallow.

The rumored pricing of the Redmi Note 4X is CNY 1299 ($180 | Rs. 13,000) and the launch is expected soon in China.

Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 4 in India in January next year, so we can expect this version to arrive in the country, since Xiaomi is barred from selling MediaTek powered devices in the country. The same was the case with Redmi Note 3, it was initially launched with MediaTek processor, but before Indian release, a Snapdragon version was launched.

Xiaomi outs budget Mi Piston Fresh earphones, Mi Heaphone in China

Xiaomi has expanded it audio products portfolio with the launch of two affordable audio accessories, Mi Piston Fresh earphone and Mi Headphone in China.

The Mi Piston Fresh earphones sports an aluminum body, and comes in several colors including Pink, Blue, Purple, Black and Silver. It features third generation noise cancellation, a built-in microphone and button for answeing calls and controlling volume on the go. The microphone and button works only with Android devices, and now with iOS devices.

The new Mi Headphone has a PU leather material in the earmuffs and silicon material on the inside, making it skin friendly. It sports a sound chamber design to eliminate outside noise and features built-in damping damping system, which helps in reducing distortion and absorbing of internal acoustic waves on the diaphragm. The headphones also gets Japan Hi-Res Audio high-quality audio product standard certification.

It comes in Mint, Orange and White colors, and features touch control for call and music playback on the left side of the headphone as well as built-in microphone.

The Mi Piston Fresh earphone is priced at CNY 29 ($4 | Rs. 289) and the the Mi Headphones are priced at CNY 199 ($28 | Rs. 1,900) and are now available in China.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 now available in Blue and Black colors in China

Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 4 in China back in August earlier this year. Initially it was available in Gold, Silver and Grey color hues. But now Xiaomi has added two more color options ― Blue and Black.

The new color options will be available for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 3GB RAM/64GB storage version of Redmi Note 4 and the price remains same at CNY 999 and CNY 1,199 respectively.

Coming to the other specs, the Redmi Note 4 features 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display, deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor, fingerprint scanner, hybrid dual-SIM slots and a beefy 4100mAh battery.

For photography, there's 13MP PDAF rear camera and 5MP front camera. The phone runs Android Marshmallow based MIUI 8 and supports storage expansion, 4G LTE and VoLTE.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is also expected to launch in India in January 2017. Hope we see the new color options available for Indian market as well.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 4G Windows 10 laptop gets official

Chinese device maker Xiaomi in partnership with China Mobile has unveiled the Mi Notebook Air 4G in China. As the name suggests the laptop supports Cat.4 4G LTE that offers download speeds of up to 150Mbps.

The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 4G will be available in two models ― 12.5-inch and 13.3-inch display ― bearing 1920 x 1080 resolution with 5.71mm and 5.59mm ultra-narrow borders respectively.

Both models have the same configuration as their non-4G variants, that was launched back in July, but the 13.3-inch model comes with sixth-gen core i7 processor offering 10 percent improvement over the Core i5 processor found in non-4G variant.

The 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air 4G features Intel Core m3 6Y30 processor w/ on-board Intel Graphics 515, 4GB LPDDR3 RAM, 128GB SATA SSD and an additional SSD expansion slot.  It is 12.9mm thick at its thinnest, and weighs in at 1.07kg, and promises battery life of up to 11.5 hours.

The 13.3-inch model has an Intel Core i7 Skylake processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT940MX GPU (1GB DDR5 memory), 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD and an additional SSD expansion slot. It is 14.8mm thick, weighs 1.28kg and promises up to 9.5 hours of battery life.

Both models will run windows 10 and include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1 for wireless connectivity. Other features include 1MP HD webcam, 2 x USB 3.0 ports (one on 12.5-inch model), HDMI port, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and dual speakers w/ Dolby Audio.

The Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 4G (Gold and Silver hues) has been priced at CNY 4699 ($676 | Rs. 45,850) for the 12.5-inch model and CNY 6999 ($1005 | Rs. 68,335 for the 13.3-inch model. The laptop comes bundled with 4G per month data plan on China Mobile worth CNY 130, which means you get 48GB worth of data for a year worth 1560 for free.

Xiaomi Mi S compact flagship with 4.6-inch display, Snapdragon 821 leaked

Last month details of an unreleased Xiaomi smartphone code-named Meri and allegedly called Mi 5C leaked online. While, the phone is yet to be launched, another Xiaomi smartphone called Mi S have been detailed in a new leak. A couple of render and spec sheet of the Mi S were posted by a tipster on Weibo.

According to the leak Xiaomi Mi S will be a compact smartphone and pack top end specs. It will have a screen size of 4.6-inches with Full HD resolution, encased into a body with thickness of 8.2mm.

The Xiaomi Mi S will reportedly be equipped with Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, 12MP Sony IMX378 rear camera (w/ dual-LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and 4MP font shooter. Other rumored features include 4G LTE, USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner (embedded into the home button), WiFi 802.11ac and 2600mAh battery with fast charging support.

The authenticity of the leaks remains to be verified, so take these rumor with a pinch of salt. That said, Xiaomi has scheduled an event for December 23 to unveil 4G LTE supported Mi Notebook  Pro, so can expect the company to launch a smartphone as well.

Xiaomi to launch refreshed Mi Notebook Air with 4G support on December 23

Chinese device maker, Xiaomi, popularly known for its smartphone forayed into the PC market with the launch of Mi Notebook Air in July this year. The most noticeable thing about Xiaomi's laptop was its design which closely resembles Apple's Macbook Air.

Now Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of an upgraded Mi Notebook Air. The company has scheduled an event on December 23 in China, for which it has released invites.

The invite shows the right side of the laptop which has similar design to Mi Notebook Air, however, there's a 4G network signal in the lower right corner of the screen, indicating that the upgraded model will have 4G LTE support to offer connectivity on-the-go. Moreover we can expect the laptop to get a Kaby Lake upgrade.

Xiaomi's new 20000mAh power bank supports Quick Charge 3.0

Xiaomi is expanding its range of power banks with the launch of new Mi Power Bank 2 in China. The new power bank is basically an upgrade over the previously launched 20000mAh Mi Power Bank with the inclusion of Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It also supports two-way fast charging.

The new power bank sports the same ABS plastic body and design as its predecessor to offer better grip, but measures 23.9mm, which makes it slightly thicker than its predecessor that measures 21.8 mm.

The new 20000mAh power bank houses two USB ports with 5.1V / 3.6A output rating for two connected devices and supports 5V/2.4A-9V/2A-12V/1.5A when using single port. Inside it packs a high-density lithium-power battery. The power bank can charge most smartphones, tablet and even the latest Apple MacBook as well as Mi Band 2.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is getting stable Android Marshmallow update

Following beta tests, Xiaomi has finally released Android Marshallow update along with MIUI 8.1.1.0.MHOMIDI stable update to the global variant of Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon 650). 

The update  comes with various optimizations and bug fixes, and is about 1.3GB in size. It is being rolled out over-the-air for Redmi Note 3 users in a phased manner.

If you are using Redmi Note 3 you'll be notified about the update when it is available or you can check if it is available by going to settings > About phones > System Updates, and you'll get the option to download and install.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 Windows 10 tablet will have 9.7-inch display, Kaby Lake

Chinese device maker Xiaomi has so far launched two tablets namely the Mi Pad (Android) and Mi Pad 2 (Android + Windows) with mid-range specs. They offered 7.9-inch display and were equipped with NVIDIA Tegra K1 / Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor respectively.

However according to a new leak, the company is gearing up for the launch of Mi Pad 3. A couple of promotional image of the tablet has surfaced and if true, it will be Xiaomi's most powerful tablet offering till date and a competitor to Apple's iPad Pro.

As seen in promotional images, the Mi Pad 3 will run Windows 10 and feature a bigger 9.7-inch retina display with screen resolution of 2048 x 1536. It will be equipped with 7th gen Intel Core M Kaby Lake processor (m3-7Y30) w/ Intel HD Graphics 615, 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.

The tablet will will have a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button, 16MP rear camera (dual-tone LED flash), 8MP front camera, USB Type-C port, speakers and 8290mAh battery with fast charging support. It will sport an all-metal 6.08mm slim body and come with an optional keyboard dock.

Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Mi Pad 3 on December 30. As for the pricing the 128GB Mi Pad 3 will cost CNY 1999 ($288 | Rs. 20,000), while the 256GB version will be priced CNY 2299 ($330 | Rs. 22,500). The optional keyboard dock will be priced at CNY 99 (Rs. 950).

Xiaomi launches Mi VR Play headset in India for Rs. 999

Xiaomi has launched its first VR headset, the Mi VR Play in India for Rs. 999. The VR headset will be available via Mi.com starting December 21.

Xiaomi's Mi VR Play sports a zipper design to prevent the inserted smartphone from falling out. The headset is made out of Leica fabric (nylon + spandex) and EVA material, making it lightweight and skin-friendly.

The Mi VR Play is designed to be used with smartphones with screen sizes between 4.7" and 5.7". With the headset, you can experience panoramic videos, 360-degree YouTube videos, VR games and apps designed for the headset. These apps can be accessed from the dedicated app and to interact with them there's a button on top of the headset.

Alongside the VR headset, Xiaomi also released Mi Live Video streaming app. Regarding the app, Xiaomi said ― "Mi Live is our livestream app where you can share your daily thoughts, music talents, fitness tips, and more with the world.It has several built-in features like video chat and Beautify. In Mi Live, you can talk to the hosts, send comments, and they can respond to you in real time. It’s very interactive."

Xiaomi intros new Mi Electric Scooter in China

Xiaomi's sub-brand Mija has launched its latest product, the Mi Electric Scooter in China. It sports an air-craft grade aluminum alloy body that weighs 12.5kg and has a foldable design, that lets you fold it in just three seconds with a press of a button.

The Mi Electric Scooter  packs a 280Wh lithium-ion battery that offers battery life of 30km (75kg load). It has a top speed of 25km per hour and maximum torque of 16nm through a DC motor.

It also packs some other interesting technology like KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) to recover energy from braking movement, dual-break system, cruise control and E-ABS system for controlled braking. The the rear wheel uses mechanical disc brakes.

The electric scooter also boasts a companion smartphone app, which it connects to via Bluetooth and allows users to see battery life, speed, track energy recovery system intensity, update the scooter's firmware and more among others.

The Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter is priced at CNY 199 ($290 | Rs. 20,000) and will be available starting December 15 in Black and White colors.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is getting Android Marshmallow in India

Xiaomi's Redmi Note 3 is one of the most popular smartphones in India, with sales reaching over 2.5 million, within eight months of launch. That said, the phone was launched in India running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based MIUI 7, and was updated to MIUI 8, but the Android flavor was still the same. However, now it is getting Android Marshmallow in beta form.

The Chinese smartphone maker has started rolling out Android Marshmallow along with the MIUI 8.1.1.0.MHOMIDI OTA update as nightly build to Redmi Note Pro in India. The update size is hefty 1.3GB and is available for select users randomly.

Xiaomi says that after successfully beta testing the build, it will push the update to the stable channel. But, in case you want to try the beta build on your phone, you can get the OTA file from here and flash it manually.
