Desiree Robinson, 16, of South Chicago found anally tortured and murdered in a Markham Garage on Christmas Day

MARKHAM, IL — A 16-year-old girl died Christmas Eve of injuries she suffered in an assault. She was found in a garage the 16200 block of Hamlin Avenue in Markham, where she was pronounced dead at 9:41 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy was conducted on Desiree Robinson, of South Chicago, on Sunday. Her death was ruled a homicide. Robinson was reported missing by her grandparents on Nov. 29.

Dennis Treadwell, Robinson's grandfather, told ABC 7 Chicago about filing the missing persons report with Chicago Police.

"We thought it was a situation where there was some danger there. So we better let the officials deal with it," he said. "I am very angry, very distraught about taking a young person's life so soon before they can develop into a person without any kind of integrity. And she's gone."
