Tariff War: After Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular launch unlimited voice calling pack


Following in the footsteps of Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular has announced new unlimited voice calling packs with data benefits for prepaid customers to take on Reliance Jio. Vodafone and Idea Cellular are offering the same benefits as Airtel on their respective recharge packs.

Vodafone's new Rs. 144 pack gives users unlimited STD and local calls to any Vodafone number across the country, as well as 300MB of 4G data. The Rs. 344 pack, offers unlimited local or STD voice calls to any other network in India and 1GB of 4G data. The recharge also gives users free incoming calls on national roaming as well. The Rs. 144 pack will vary between Rs. 144 and Rs. 148, while the Rs. 344 pack will vary between Rs. 344 and Rs. 349 depending on the region.

Coming to Idea Cellular's plans, the teleco has also introduced two packs ㅡ The Rs. 148 pack offers free local and STD Idea-to-Idea calls as well as 300MB of 4G data, while the Rs. 348 packs offers free local and STD calls to any network in the country, along with 1GB of 4GB data. Prices of these packs may vary from circle to circle.

Both Vodafone and Idea Cellular's unlimited voice calling packs carry validity of 28 days, and if customers don't have 4G smartphone, the data benefits are limited to 50MB in the recharge packs.

Vodafone India offers double 4G data for all prepaid plans over Rs. 255


To take on Reliance Jio's free data offer, Vodafone India has announced that it will now offer double 4G data for all its existing plans that are priced over Rs. 255, thereby reducing prices by 50%.

Under the new plans, Vodafone prepaid users will get 2GB of 4G data at Rs. 255. With Rs. 459 and Rs. 559 data packs, users will get 6GB and 8GB of 4G data respectively, while the Rs. 999 and Rs. 1,999 plans will now offer 20GB and 40GB of 4G data respectively. All these packs will have a validity of 28 days, and will be available across all the circles where Vodafone 4G is available.

Following the commercial launch of Jio's services, Vodafone and other telecos in the country have introduced a slew of plans to keep its customers at bay. Vodafone had recently introduced one-year data pack priced at Rs. 1,501, which gives you 15GB of data upfront and recharge benefit of 1GB of 3G data for Rs. 53.
