Four Nokia-branded smartphones will reportedly launch during Q2 and Q3 2017

HMD Global, the new home of Nokia devices has already confirmed that the company will out the first batch of Nokia-branded Android devices in the first half of 2017. The company already launched its first handset, which a feature phone called Nokia 150.

Now a report coming out of Taiwan citing industry sources suggest that HMD Global will launch its first Nokia-branded smartphone (most likely the D1C) at MWC 2017 in February next year, followed by four more smartphones during Q2 and Q3 of 2017.

The four new models will sport display sizes ranging from 5- to 5.5-inches with Full HD or Quad HD resolution. The display panels will be supplied by LG Display, Century Technology and Innolux, and FIH Mobile will be manufacturing the devices. 

The report also reveals some of details of Nokia D1C. It is said to be available in two version depending on RAM and display size. The lower end model will cost $150 (Rs. 10,000) and will feature 5-inch Full HD display and 2GB RAM, while the high end model will cost $200 (Rs. 13,500) and come with 5.5-inch Full HD display and 3GB RAM.

According to rumors, Nokia D1C will pack Snapdragon 430 processor, 32GB internal storage, 16MP or 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and run Android 7.0 Nougat.

Nokia D1, D1C, E1 surface in leaked images

Next year, Nokia in partnership with HMD Global will return to the smartphone market with new Android devices. Already a number of live images, renders as well as specs of upcoming Nokia devices (one of them D1C) have leaked. 

Now images of Nokia D1C, along with a new device called Nokia D1 and E1 have hit the interwebs. Note that there is no way confirm the authenticity of these images, or if such device exist, so take these reports with a pinch of salt.

As seen in the image, the Nokia will E1 will have capacitive keys on the front for navigation, while the Nokia D1 and D1C will have  physical home button (which could house the fingerprint sensor) with capacitive keys on either side for navigation. Nokia branding is also visible on all the devices.

The Nokia D1 could be a variant of D1C and will also sport a physical home button which will have the fingerprint sensor baked in.

According to earlier rumors, Nokia D1C will come in two version - The first variant will feature 5-inch Full HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and 13MP rear camera. The second model will have 5.5-inch Full HD display, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 16MP rear camera. Both will feature 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 processor with Adreno 505 GPU, 8MP selfie camera and run Android 7.0 Nougat. Unfortunately the specs of Nokia E1 is not known.

Nokia Z2 Plus with Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM appears on Geekbench

HMD Global, the new home of Nokia devices will launch a couple of Nokia branded Android smartphones in 2017. The company already made its market debut with a feature phone called Nokia 150.

Now a new Nokia smartphone called Z2 Plus has been spotted on Geekbench bench-marking website revealing key specs which indicates it to be a high-end phone.

As per the listing the Nokia Z2 Plus will be powered by 1.77GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The phone has a single-core score of 2156 and multi-core score of 5217. Unfortunately other details on the specs are not known.

This is not the first time we have come across a Nokia branded smartphone. Earlier a Nokia device code-named D1C was spotted on Geekbench and AnTuTu bench-marking website. The tests revealed that Nokia D1C will feature Full HD display, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. It will boot Android Nougat.

Nokai 150 feature phone announced by HMD Global

HMD Global, the Finland based company responsible to market and sell Nokia branded device for the next 10 years has launched its first mobile phone called Nokia 150, kickstarting a new era for Nokia devices.

However, Nokia 150 is not an Android smartphone, but a feature phone that comes with scratch resistant polycarbonate shell, 2.4-inch QVGA display, a large keypad and is powered by Nokia Series 30+ operating system. It will be available in single-SIM and dual-SIM depending on the region in black and white hues.

Other features are same what you expect from a feature phone. It comes with torchlight, FM radio, dedicated MP3 player, microSD card slot, VGA camera with LED flash and Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM functionality. The Nokia 150 comes pre-loaded with classic Snake Xenzia and Gameloft's try-and-buy Nitro Racing.

The single SIM variant offers talk time up to 22 hours and standby time of up to 31 days, while the dual-SIM model promises 25 days of standby time and 22 hours of talk time.

The Nokia 150 is priced at $26 (Rs. 1,750) and will initially launch in India, Middle-East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Europe in the Q1, 2017. As for the Android smartphone, HMD Global have confirmed that it will launch device in the first half of 2017.
